Announcement

Rivers & Robots started with a desire to glorify Jesus and make Him known. As a 17 year old I felt God leading me to start writing songs and worshipping him with music and creativity, to dig into God’s word and communicate the character and nature of Jesus through songs. And so, armed with a keyboard, a laptop and a USB microphone, I began to start to capture song ideas, and the Rivers & Robots project was born. I had no idea at the time that those recordings would lead to where we are today. Some of you have followed that journey. From a bedroom recording project to a 4-piece band, changing line-ups, 6 albums, many tours and missions trips around the world. It’s been an amazing ride and one that we’re incredible thankful for.

This past year has been an unusual one for many of us. And while we had planned on taking the time at home to write our next album and gear up for another album cycle of recording and touring - we began to feel a change. We took some intentional time out to listen to the Lord and pray about where He was leading us. Since starting Rivers & Robots, we have always tried to follow the leading of The Spirit - to be aware of His voice and His leadership. As we have sang so many times: “Lord You are the Shepherd of my soul, so I lay down my plans, I give up my rights, and let You take control of this surrendered life”. We always try to live our lives in surrender and know that even this project is not our own.

We’ve learnt to recognise the times we’re sailing with the wind of God’s power and blessing, and to know when we’re sailing against it. And so, after much prayer and conversation, we believe the season is changing again and that it’s time for Rivers & Robots to take a hiatus. This isn’t a break-up, we’re all still friends and love and support each other just as much as ever. But after 10 years of Rivers & Robots as a project, we feel like it’s time to take a break from recording and touring for the foreseeable future. This is never an easy decision to make, and we know it will be sad news for many of our listeners.

We wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for your support of our music and ministry. We’re so thankful for the opportunities the Lord brought along for us to worship together in so many wonderful places, for the people who opened their churches, venues and homes to us. For the listeners streaming our songs, sharing them with friends, coming to our events, getting merchandise, backing our album on Kickstarter and so on… There are so many people we’d like to thank, too many to name, but we’re thankful for all of you.

While this project may be on hiatus, music and ministry will always be a big part of our lives, even if we’re serving in different capacities through our churches, houses of prayer and solo projects. And as always, we continue to burn with a passion to make Jesus known and to see his Kingdom come. Please keep us in prayer as we navigate the next steps and continue to walk with the Lord into whatever he has for us next!

Thank you.

Rivers & Robots.
